About SlapShot Alley

Operating out of two Richmond locations on No. 6 Road and Bridgeport Road, SlapShot Alley specialises in shooting technique and puck control instruction. Sessions are available by appointment and run in several formats — 30-, 45-, and 60-minute private lessons, group sessions, and a 90-minute programme — with slow-motion video analysis also on offer.

Head coach Andre Parfeniuk holds a Hockey Canada Level 2 Coach certification and is a BASE Hockey Certified Shooting Instructor. The programme serves players from U11 through to adult recreational skaters, and the inclusion of adult beginner programming addresses a gap that is difficult to fill through minor hockey channels.

Review feedback highlights the programme's accessibility for adult learners who arrive without a strong foundation in shooting mechanics.

I picked up hockey as an adult beginner not long ago. I didn’t know any of the basics, so my shooting was weak and all over the place. I had been looking for ways to learn and improve, but I was completely lost — there just aren’t many useful programs out there for adult beginners like myself. Walking into Slapshot Alley for my first shooting session felt both exciting and intimidating. Fast forward five sessions later — I can confidently say this has been one of the best things I’ve done to build real skills and momentum in the sport. I’ve had the opportunity to train with both Coach Andre and Coach Terrence, and each brought unique strengths to the sessions. Andre is incredibly detail-oriented — he helped me understand the mechanics behind every movement through video feedback and technical breakdowns. Terrence brings great energy and helped things click by focusing on rhythm, body movement, and flow. I learned something different and valuable from each coach. When I started, I didn’t even know how to properly stand or follow through with a shot. Now, thanks to their guidance, I’ve built a solid foundation in both wrist shots and snap shots. The facility is clean, quiet, and perfectly set up for focused training. If you’re just getting started like me, I can’t recommend Slapshot Alley enough. I’m planning to purchase more sessions and look forward to continuing this journey here.
