About Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club
Founded in 1997, the Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club has offered short track speed skating training at the Magna Centre in Newmarket, Ontario for nearly three decades. Under head coach Zak Jackson, the club holds affiliations with both Speed Skating Ontario and Speed Skating Canada, lending its programmes a structured, association-aligned framework.
Programming spans recreational and competitive streams, with options including a core seasonal programme, Spring Dryland, Summer Training, and a 4-Week Trial for skaters new to the club. On-ice work focuses on power skating development, with off-ice conditioning rounding out the training schedule. Age levels served centre on youth skaters in the U8–U13 range, though the club's stated mandate extends to skaters of all ages and skill levels.
